Advisement

Academic advising is a cooperative process between students, faculty, and Student Services staff. Each curriculum student in a specific Program of Study is assigned to a 3-person advising team. The team consists of a primary Program Advisor who is a faculty member with expert knowledge in the student's Program of Study. The second team member is a General Advisor who is typically a Student Services staff member with broad knowledge of several programs and services. And, the third member of the advising team is the student, who establishes and communicates their educational and career goals to the rest of the team. Curriculum students who are not enrolled in specific programs (Special Studies students) are assigned to the  Coordinator of Academic Advising. Students must make appointments with their advisors prior to registration for the next semester.

All students should refer to the college catalog for information about the courses required for graduation in the various areas of study. Students will then work with their advisors to develop a personalized academic plan (MAP - My Academic Plan), as part of the college's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). By consulting with advisors when questions arise, students will develop a more accurate and efficient academic plan. Advisors and counselors are available to assist students, but final responsibility for meeting program and graduation requirements remains with the student.
